Linda Moore Wicker

July 27, 1947- December 24, 2020

Linda Moore Wicker, 73, of Zachary left her family and friends on December 24, 2020 after a valiantly fought battle with cancer that lasted nearly three decades. It is often said that the world becomes a littler dimmer when a loved one passes away and not only is this true of Linda but it can also be said that this world has lost a beacon of hope, love and belief in the goodness and beauty of mankind. Linda loved everyone or at least she loved and believed in the potential of all. She was a relentless advocate of all animals with cats finding the place nearest to her heart having worked to rescue and foster untold numbers of them during her lifetime. Linda had a quick and sharp wit, a brilliant mind and an unmatched sense of humor. Linda’s life was to be envied as she squeezed every ounce out of every minute and in her later years, she refused to let her health define whom she was and more importantly, what she stood for. She loved the beach, champagne, old movies, good books and the flock of ducks that relied on her generous daily feedings provided straight from the pier on the lake behind her home. Above all, Linda loved and is survived by her daughter Karen Schneider, of Baton Rouge and her adoring husband, James Kenneth Wicker, of Zachary as well as her brother and sister-in-law Jessie and Brenda Donze of Centreville, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wall D. and Alice Hammons Moore. Coming in a close second to her immediate family, she loved her friends unconditionally and she demonstrated a kindness and generosity to them without ever a hint of expecting anything in return. Linda and her family wish to express their utmost thanks to the team of professionals at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for the years of treatment and support during her struggle that she seemed to take fully in stride and never to stop fighting. The number of others that aided along the way is too long to list but far too important to ignore as words cannot express the appreciation and love felt for them. In honor of Linda and due to complications from Covid-19, no memorial service will be held at this time as we ask that family and friends reserve July 27, 2021 as a date when her life will be remembered and celebrated on what would have been her 74 th birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center are greatly appreciated.
