Rawlins McKey, Sr

Rawlins Elmo McKey, Sr. “Elmo”, a native of Centreville, MS and a resident of Baton Rouge, was born on Sept. 5, 1941 and passed away on Sun., Dec. 27, 2020 at Ochsner Medical Center at the age of 79. He retired from Albertson’s after working decades in the grocery business. He never met a stranger. He always loved sports, playing and coaching baseball in his younger days, and anyone who knew him, knew that he was an avid Ole Miss Rebels fan. He loved working in his yard and had a natural green thumb. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice (Smylie) McKey, his son, Rawlins Elmo McKey, Jr. “Rawlie” and his wife, Angie, his daughter, Dina Malcomb and her husband, Kevin, his grandson, Dakota McKey, his granddaughter, Calea McKey, two sisters, Linda Rogillio of Gloster, MS and Maxine Compton and her husband, Rick, of Griffin, GA, numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Earl Pearson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Willie Mae (Callender) McKey, his sister, Mary Betz, three brothers, Raiford “Cotton” McKey, Robert McKey and Eugene McKey. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Walker. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 31st from 5 – 7 PM with a memorial service following at 7 PM at Seale’s Funeral Home in Denham Springs, officiated by Rev. Kevin Malcomb.
