Betty Lou Slaton Thames passed away January 13, 2021 at the age of 81. She was a lifelong resident of Denham Springs. Devoted to family and her firm belief in God, she was immersed in a Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Faithful servant of God, she served as a Sunday School and preschool teacher at Amite Baptist Church and Daycare, and a member of Watson Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Betty was dearly loved by her husband, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Despite her large family she always made everyone feel special. She always provided love, prayers and support for her family. Her faith in Jesus Christ was strong. It was a living faith in a living savior. Visitation at Live Oak Methodist Church on Saturday, January 16th from 9 to 12 with religious services beginning at 12. Services will be officiated by Reverend Gerald Martin and Reverend John Pemberton. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Cecil Brady Thames, and four sons: Cecil (Melissa Blount), David (Annette Loper), Michael (Kelly Lipscomb), and Joel (Kim Causey); 9 grandchildren (Katie, Dustin and Jessica Thames , Matthew and Brittany Thames , Brett and Taylor Thames , Sarah (Thames) and Garrett Watson, Breelyn, Meagan (Thames) and Logan Cormier, Joshua, and Tyler Thames; and 4 great grandchildren (Cash and Monroe Watson, Brady and Baylor Thames) 3 sisters and a brother, Clara Blount, Shirley Rowe, Marguerite Dedon, and Jerry Slaton and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, William Slaton and mother, Lena Lejeune Slaton. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Betty Lou was a fine friendly loving person and a wonderful neighbor for many years we will all miss her. All of her family are in my prayers

Our family will be praying for all of Betty’s family and so very sorry for your loss. We all grew up in the same little town on the same road and Betty was always a sweet, quiet and Christian young lady. I know that she is receiving her heavenly Father’s reward for a life well lived. I remember Mrs.Betty as a loving and caring person who devoted her life to GOD and family. One ready to help in anyway she could. At peace with GOD .
