June 9, 1946 ~ January 29, 2021
On January 29,2021, Stephen Charles Montgomery, age 74, left this world peacefully and prayerfully with his family by his side.
He was a native of Park Hills, Missouri where he met and married the love of his life of 51 years, Jennifer Phillips. Steve proudly served in the Air Force, and was a 35 year employee of MSHA. He was an avid golfer, but his passion was yard work, fishing, recycling, and watching his grandchildren’s sport activities. He was an incredible Father but his greatest joy was his grandchildren whom he cherished and enjoyed. A member of Istrouma Baptist Church, he considered his Sunday school class as the highlight of his week.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Donna Montgomery of Park Hills, MO, and in-laws, Alvin and Janet Phillips. Survived by his wife, Jennifer, son Charles “Chuck” Montgomery and wife Nicole, daughter Amy Montgomery Holstein and husband Scott. Grandchildren Carlynn Nicole Montgomery and husband Brett, Caleb Michael Holstein, Elijah Montgomery Holstein, and Mary Grace Holstein. He is also survived by his sister Becky Ferrell and husband Ike of Houston, TX, a nephew and several nieces.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Ochsner Telemetry and ICU staffs, who went above and beyond, giving him the best care possible through their diligence, professionalism and compassion.
There will be a private memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to the Capital Area Law Enforcement Foundation (CALEF).

Jennifer, Marian and I were deeply saddened to hear of Steve’s death. Like others we didn’t know he was ill. We will always remember Steve as a helper with a smile to those neighbors who needed it. As a fellow veteran, I always appreciated his dedication to fly our American flags at subdivision entrances on patriotic days. Our prayers are with you and your family. Wayne, & Marian Dyer

Jennifer, I will never forget the night I came to your house to visit you and Steve to invite you to become members of our Sunday School class. The two of you did join and was very faithful in attending every Sunday and we became very good friends over the next few years. I’m sorry we lost touch after you left FBBC. Steve was a fine Christian and will be missed by friends and family alike.
Bill.

Jennifer, please accept our condolences. Steve always had a warm smile and we enjoyed our many conversations about your grandkids, and golf of course. I believe Steve lived his Christianity in a very humble manner. We pray for you and the family, we are saddened by his passing.
