September 17, 1945 ~ February 3, 2021
James Fredrick Sabo of Denham Springs, age 75, entered eternal rest on February 3, 2021.
Jim was born September 17, 1945, to James Beard Sabo and Agnes Laverne Arisman in Waco, Texas. His parents soon divorced, and he was raised by his father and stepmother Mary Rita Veer Sabo. As his father was career Air Force, Jim lived in several states while growing up, including Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Florida. As a youth, he was a Boy Scout, played trumpet in school bands, and was an All-Star baseball player. He served his country as a Green Beret in Vietnam, and after he left the Army, he worked the oil rigs in Louisiana. After his retirement, “Mr. Jim” took pleasure in refurbishing old bicycles to give to children whose parents couldn’t afford to buy them. He also gardened and knew his way around the kitchen. His special joy in life was spoiling his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his daughter Daphne Toups and son Brad Toups; grandchildren Selena, Blake, Taylin, Eathan and Nathaniel; several great-grandchildren; his sister Connie Sabo; and by stepsons Jimmy Toups and Dino Toups and their families.
Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, his stepmother, his sister Corinne Sabo, his brother John Sabo, his stepdaughter Karen Toups, and stepson Troy Toups. There will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the charity of your choice. Please sign the online guestbook at www.sealefuneral.com.

Jim and I went to elementary and junior high together. He was a smart kid, a good athlete and he was a great friend. I missed him when his dad was transferred but we reconnected a few times over the years. I still remember how his mom would make us two big baking pans of macaroni and cheese and we would each eat a whole one.
