February 25, 2021by SealeUser9

Joseph “Jode” Eli Delatte II , 18 of Watson’ La. passed into the arms of his savior on February 25, 2021 after a 17 month battle with cancer. He was a senior at Live Oak High and had a passion for marine biology and wildlife. Jode had a contagious personality and lived for the laughter of others even thru immense struggle. He survives by his parents Cassidy and John Martin, siblings include Olivia Delatte, David Martin, and Jesse Rousseau also 2 nieces Ansley and Oaklynn Rousseau and long time friend Wesley Austin. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends to many to name but loved by him all the same. Memorial service will open for visitation on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10 am at Faith Crossing Methodist Church in Walker, La. Service will begin at 11 am and will be officiated by Pastors John Gilmore and Kathy Fitzhugh. An informal burial of remains will take place at the Whites Family Cemetery in Husser, La for any wishing to attend. Social distancing and wearing of masks are required. Due to the outpouring of love and support from our community the concerns of overcrowding forces us to ask that indoor seating be reserved for immediate family and close friends only. Anyone who would like to listen to the service may do so outside the front of the sanctuary.

In honor of Jode’s love for the ocean a tropical dress theme is also encouraged. Immense gratitude and thanks goes to the staff at the St Jude Affiliate Clinic at the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, La. We wish to also recognize his homebound teacher Mrs. Tinita Blount for making his diploma dreams possible.

Any monitory donations are to be made in Jodes honor and should be sent to Dreams Come True of Louisiana or Perry’s Posse of Garyville, La.

I just found out about Jode’s passing and his entrance into Heaven sitting with his maker. I want the family to know how sorry I am to hear this tragic news. I had the privilege of teaching Jode in first grade at N.L.O.E. He always kept us laughing and having fun every single day. A few years later, I was honored to have his baby sister Olivia. Love these two kiddos so much. My prayers are with you!
    Love y’all

I did not know your son but I am a mom who lost her son to cancer 4 years ago this month. He, too, is in the arms of Jesus and that gives me a great sense of peace. I pray that you will find comfort and that God will fill you with strength and endurance till the day He calls you home to join your son in heaven. God will bless you day by day!

Joseph was the start to my school day every other day. He zoomed in and participated in class. His personality and positivity was contagious in class. We all remember our friend the barking dog the first zoom, before we learned to mute occasionally, and I already miss all the Zoom calls he hasn’t made since his final trip to the hospital. I am so happy he is in a place loved by God and free of disease. He is missed.

I had the honor of teaching Jode when he was in ninth grade and he added such a light to my classroom! He will be missed at Live Oak!

I am so sorry for your loss. We don’t understand and we ask “Why “. We have a loving God that does understand. He is picking His bouquet.
Jodi is suffering no more the pain. Remember his laughter, his smile and his funny way of doing and saying things.
He is in the loving arms of Jesus our Savior.
We send our prayers and thoughts.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know words can’t take away the pain. Just know he is in the loving hands of God with no more pain. Cherish your loving memories and keep them near and dear to your heart. I’m going to miss him coming in the store and getting candy.
