Dickie Ray George
July 1, 1936 ~ March 7, 2021
Dickie was a native son of High Island, TX and will forever be remembered as being full of life and always wanting to put a smile on everyone’s face. To know him was to love him! He was a true High Island Cardinal at heart, graduated in 1954 in the top four of his class……. After High School, he worked several jobs around high Island and he loved to fish, hunt, ride horses and even tried the Rodeo. He loved the rodeo, roping, riding, bucking broncs, but he gave it all up after meeting Dianne in 1958 to get a real job working in the in the Oil Fields of High Island. Getting married in 1959 changed Dickie’s life, he became a father in February of 1960 and by June of 1970 he had his dream team in place. Dianne will tell you there were many hard days back then, but Dickie never worried about money… he would say. “I can make more money tomorrow”. Working and Family were the two greatest things in his life, he knew that he had to work and take care of his job, so he could raise his family. To say Dickie loved High Island is an understatement, he had Children in the High Island school system for 28 years, so he was definitely involved. Dickie loved his community, He with Dianne by his side volunteered their time to supporting the school district in many ways, from helping the Ag and Athletic departments to being two of the founding members of the High Island Cardinal Club, created to support the school and provide scholarships for students. Dickie was loved by many and always left the doors open at home for his children and their friends. He never turned away anyone in need and always wanted to lend a helping hand.
Dickie considered himself just as much a King as he did a George. He loved Dianne’s side of the family very much and they Loved him in return.
