Marlene LeBlanc

October 3, 1945 – March 7, 2021

Marlene LeBlanc, a resident of Greenwell Springs, and a native of Plaquemine, Louisiana, passed away at her home on Sunday March 7, 2021 at the age of 75.  After a successful liver transplant in 2014 she again had another significant health challenge after being diagnosed with AML Leukemia in 2019.  After successfully achieving remission in 2019, she was faced with a relapse of her Leukemia in 2020.  She eventually succumbed to her multiple medical issues. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, 1710 S Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA 70726. Mrs. LeBlanc retired as the Assistant to the Dean of the LSU Graduate School after a lengthy 42 years of service to LSU.  She was a fan of camping, swamp pop music, trips to the casinos, traveling, the LSU Tigers, and loved spending time with her precious family and especially her beloved granddaughter, Lauryn. She is survived by her son, Greg Joseph LeBlanc (Kinta); daughter-in-law, Cherie LeBlanc Strate (Leo); granddaughter, Lauryn Ann LeBlanc. She is also survived by a special “son”, Carroll Devillier (Eileen); lifelong friend, Fannie Alexander. She was preceded in death by her father, Herd Joseph Callegan; mother, Laura Cecelia Stevens Callegan; husband, Willie “Billy” LeBlanc; son, Danny Joseph LeBlanc (Cherie); brother, Stevens Joseph Callegan (Marilyn); lifelong friend, Paul Alexander. The family would like to thank all of those who assisted with caring for Mrs. Marlene over the past several years, including their wonderful neighbors, friends, and relatives (too numerous to mention).  Words cannot adequately express the family’s gratitude for the love, support and prayers throughout Mrs. Marlene’s challenging journey these past several years.  She was certainly able to conquer her many health challenges as a result. The family would like to thank the staff at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, especially the Multiorgan Transplant Institute (Dr. Joshi and staff), the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center (Dr. Davis, Elise Curry, RN, and staff), Compassus Hospice (Michelle, Nikki, and Dr. Stuart Lebas), and Griswold Homecare Services (Rhonda Dunn, Rolanda Gaines, and Ellen Fagan).
