Fern S. Duhon, 75, passed away peacefully March 15, 2021 at 2:40 PM. She was born in Morton, Washington to Frank and Shirley Selchert. She worked many years in the Live Oak district helping to feed the kids in school. She retired in 2012 from South Live Oak Elementary. Fern loved to work in her flower gardens, take long walks, and visiting with anyone she would come in contact with. She is survived by her children, Deloy Duhon (Mike Maher), Debi Hinchcliff (Joey Hinchcliff); five grandchildren, Kayla, Sohn, Alec, Jamie, and Brennan; four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Emma, Kimber, and Ethan; brother, Norman Selchert (Arlene); two sisters, Lois Strand and Laura Vandal; a very beloved friend, Sheryl Rainey, and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Duhon; her parents, Frank and Shirley Selchert; and her sister, Verna Sokolowski. A gathering to honor, remember, and celebrate her life will be held Thursday, March 25, at 5 p.m., at Live Oak Baptist Church, Denham Springs. Special thank you to Bridgeway Hospice, especially Keva, Natalie, Miranda, Ashton, and Summer for all of your dedication during this difficult time.

    “Your mama was an amazing lady! She was so kind hearted. Always wanting to do for others…I feel privileged to call her my cousin! I will cherish the my memories of the times we spent together through the years. Her smiling eyes will be with all of us. Another whole has been left in my heart.”

    I will always remember aunt fern we used to be over there all the time and sometimes she would make the best pizza 🍕 I also used e babysit deloy and Debbie but was stopped and my mama and my family knows why. I miss this side of my family. I’m sorry Deloy and Debbie for yalls loss. I still miss and love yall.
