Joseph “Slick” Orace DeSoto, Sr., 84, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home in Walker, LA. He served and defended his country in the National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He loved to be outdoors, whether fishing, hunting or doing garden work. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Monday, March 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Hilcrest Memorial Park, Baker, Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will Hershall Hodges, James Jannise, Donald Jannise Jr., Jacob Garner, Matthew Garner, and George Matthews. Honorary pallbearer is John Longlois. He is survived by his wife, Shirley DeSoto; children and their spouses, Joseph Jr. and Claire DeSoto, and Mary and Donnie Garner; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jacob, and Matthew Garner; sister, Patricia Langlois; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ann DeSoto; parents, Lovell and Mable DeSoto; and two brothers, John Lester and Harry DeSoto. Please share your condolences at .
