Alma Louise Benton

Alma Louis Bills Benton-Wittler, 87, left this world to be with her Lord on March 24, 2021 at her home in Watson, LA, with her family by her side. Born in Henderson County, Texas to Richard Luther and Gladys Reese Bills on March 18, 1934. Alma grew up and was educated in Dallas, TX. Alma Benton is survived by one daughter, who is the love of her life, Linda Jorgensen Stephens and husband, Wayne; her stepchildren, who she adored, Eileen Wittler Eskew and husband, Eddie, and their children, all of Jennings, LA, Mike Wittler and wife, Lurchel, and their daughters, all of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Melba Sue Bills Ozerenty, her daughter and children, of Lake Charles, LA, Vickie June Bills-Ross, and family, of Lajara, CO; brother, Richard Bills and family, of Albuquerque, NM. She loved and cherished her granddaughter, Kacie Louise Stephens and great-grandchildren, Raiden Wayne Stephens, Lindsey Kay Hollowell, and Danica Hollowell Bergeron. Alma is also survived by her “heart children”, Carolyn Arceneaux, “her Luther”, and her children, “Nanny Kat” Johnson and her boys; and a host of heart felt friends in Lake Charles and Denham Springs, LA. Alma Benton-Wittler was preceded in death by her husbands, H.C. Benton Jr, and Gene L. Wittler; granddaughter, Stefanie Stephens; nephew, Donald Grayson; and brother-in-law, Ernie Ozerenty.

Alma Benton-Wittler was a devoted member of University United Methodist Church, Lake Charles, for many years. She was a member of “her church”, as she told everyone she knew and had just met, Grangeville Baptist Church, Pine Grove, LA. She deeply loved and appreciated her Pastor, Mike Cotton Sr. and his precious wife, Bonita. She also sends her heart warming prayers and thank yous to all the members of “her church”.

A special thank you to Ochsner Medical Center, all of her doctors, who she appreciated and thought the world of. Their care and concern for her, and myself (daughter), Linda was extraordinary. We have been so blessed.

Her cremation will be through Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, LA.
