George Paul Buchert, Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 27, 2021.  He was a resident of Denham Springs and a former resident of Chalmette, Louisiana in St. Bernard Parish.  He was born on November 10, 1936 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  George was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired Vice President of Estimating at Lykes Bros. Steamship Company in New Orleans.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 63 ½ years, “The Love of His Life” Elaine Fennell Buchert, his son, Derek P. Buchert (Bonnie), and daughters, Jeannine B. Simeon (Stanley) and Tina B. Quakenbush (Bubbie), grandchildren, Dane M. Quakenbush (Vanessa), Erin Buchert, Beth B. Lacoste (Brad) and Victoria L. Simeon, and great grandchildren, Thomas, Corin, Brylee, Blaire, and Dorothea.

 

Brother of Agnes M. Gall (Bill), Patricia M. Borland, and Diann Melton, brother-in-law of Raymond Fennell.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends to cherish his memory.

 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Olivia G. Melton, brother, Joseph Buchert, and sister, Carole B. McCoy.

 

George was a very special person.  He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.   He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.  George will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

 

At George’s request, there will be no funeral services.  The family appreciates your love, prayers, and understanding during this most difficult time.

    I worked with George at Lykes for many years and thought the world of him. He certainly will be

    Elaine, I would always use you & George as the perfect Godly marriage, and tell everyone what a Saint he was. He was a loving & caring husband and father. He is now 1 of God’s angels.

    So long cousin. Although we were some distance apart a lot of your lifetime. Every time we were together I really enjoyed your company. I met you when I was 15 years old. Even at that age I seen in you a person that I wanted to become. You were honest,caring, respectful and at same time funny. That first impression was never challenged. God Bless George

    We lost a loving, humble and honorable great husband (married 63 1/2 years to our beautiful mom), dad, pawpaw and great pawpaw!
