Arthur Couto DeOliveira

Arthur Couto DeOliveira passed away at 2:39 PM Tuesday, August 10, 2021. He was 50 years old, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, an Eagle Scout, and a proud graduate of Catholic High School (BR). He was a senior civil/structural designer for several engineering firms in Baton Rouge and Texas. Arthur was a kind, gentle soul with a mischievous sense of humor. He loved spending time with his beloved family and their dog Malcolm. He enjoyed good food, gaming, travel, watching hockey, making popcorn, reading and listening to audio books. He was a highly intelligent man who spoke several languages and was especially fluent in Portuguese.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of nearly 24 years, Amy Langlois DeOliveira; two sons, James, 20 and David, 14; a brother, Mario DeOliveira, his wife Tracy and their 4 children; his in-laws, Gerard and Marion Langlois; a brother-in-law, Gerard Langlois, Jr; and numerous dear friends and co-workers who loved him and will miss him. Arthur also had an extensive family in Brazil with whom he was very close, paricularly his cousins Jane’ Goncalves Torgano and Tatiane Pimentel Torgano. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Aramis DeOliveira and Vilma DeOliveira Rager; and a stepfather, Ed Rager.
Visitation will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, Saturday, August 14, beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the St. Aloysius Parish Hall. The visitation will then move into the St. Aloysius Church at 1:00 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memory, Baton Rouge.
