Simmitt Bankston, Jr.

March 22, 1962 – August 14, 2021

Simmitt (Sim) Sylvester Bankston Jr. was 59 years old and a resident of Watson, La. He was called home to meet our Lord and Savior on August 14, 2021.  He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, friend, and paw paw.  Simmitt was larger than life and had a generous heart. He never looked for praises, he went on quietly working for those he loved the most. He was employed at Remedial Construction Services (RECON) and a graduate of Belaire High class of 1980.  He was a member of the Denham Springs Lodge #297, The Scottish Rite Valley of Baton Rouge, and Baton Rouge Acacia Shriners.  Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Reform Church, 28280 S. Satsuma Rd., Livingston, La. 70754 on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 10am until funeral services at 12 pm, officiated by the Rev. Clinton Mitchell.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 1710 S. Range Ave., Denham Springs, LA. 70726 with a Masonic graveside service.  In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Cornerstone Reform Church Building Fund.  Donations can be mailed to the church address above.  Simmitt is survived by his loving wife Kathy Shanks Bankston of 30 years; daughter La’Riene (Rodgest) Orillion and one grandson Wyatt Lane Orillion; parents Simmitt (Lynn) Bankston Sr. and Edna Gordon Evans; sister Donna Bankston Priest of Charleston, SC; brothers Tim (Katrina) Bankston; Chris (Dusty) Bankston; Tom (Sheila) Jones and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his brother Brandon Bankston of Arkansas.  Sim loved hunting, NASCAR, traveling for work (never meeting a stranger no matter where he traveled).  Most of all he loved spending time with his only grandchild Wyatt and letting everyone know that Wyatt loved his paw paw.  They shared their own special bond and head scratch (scratch your head like paw paw).  The family is grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayer, comfort, and support in many heart felt forms from too many people to name individually.  Please take time to sign the online guestbook at .
