Jackie Sollie
November 17, 1945 ~ August 25, 2021
Jackie Elizabeth (Givens) Sollie went home to be with our Lord on August 25, 2021. She was born on November 17, 1945 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and passed away at the age of 75. She was a lifelong resident of Louisiana.
Jackie is survived by her children Barbara McFetridge (Jay) “2nd Prettiest One”; Tracie Keegan “The Favorite One”; Roger Overholtzer (Rebecca) “Best Loved Son”; Peggy (Whitehill) Penton “The Pretty One”; and Sara Whitehill “The Keeper.” Jackie is survived by her sisters Margie Reine, Donna “Nell” Smith, Annette “Nettie” Stogner and Bobbi Carlton. Jackie had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jackie had a best friend who was more of a sister than her best friend. Sharon Coats was her childhood friend who kept her balanced, was her partner in crime (the good old fashion way), and they even called themselves “Thelma and Louise.” Jackie and Sharon might not have been related by blood, but their friendship lasted for almost 7 decades.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Gerald “Jerry” Sollie, mother Alice (McKinney) Givens, father Herman Givens and sister Daisy (Givens) Nichols.
From her children:
Our mom was devoted to her family. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and adored them all. When she loved you, she loved you “BIG.” She was giving to anyone she met. If you needed something, and she was able, she would take care of you.
Mom loved crossword puzzles, games, watching “any” crime stories on the television. Every Wednesday and Thursday she would watch “Married at First Sight” with her daughter, Sara “The Keeper.”
Every Easter was a family affair. It was a family tradition to have a crawfish boil, sit under the porch, laugh and tell stories. It was mom’s time to see everyone together, and enjoy her family.
Our mom, no matter the good times or the bad times…if you needed her, she would be there. It didn’t matter if it was across town, or across the United States, she would be there. Our Mom would always be there when we needed her the most.
We love you, and will miss you dearly. May you Rest in Peace until we meet again.
Love Always and Forever,
Barbara, Tracie, Roger, Peggy and Sara
