John Lovejoy, Jr

John Marshall Lovejoy Jr, known as Jack by friends and family, was born on May 18, 1947 in Memphis, TN. He lost his battle with Parkinson’s disease, at the age of 74, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Jack spent most of his life in New Orleans, Louisiana where he was in the entertainment business, singing and playing banjo for private parties and conventions. He was a music teacher, an avid tennis player, and had a love of travel. After Hurricane Katrina, he relocated and retired to Gonzales, Louisiana where he was actively involved in the tennis community. He made an impact on many lives and will be greatly missed. Jack is preceded in death by his parents: Ethel Collier and John Marshall Lovejoy Sr. and leaves behind surviving relatives, a daughter: Delzy Lovejoie, three sisters: Victoria Lovejoy Sulzer, Betty Lovejoy, and Tricia Lovejoy, a brother: William Lovejoy, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Annette Lanoux and Jack Cefalu for their help with caring for Jack over the years. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later time.
