Carl Eugene “Gene” Robinson

March 31, 1938 – September 19, 2021

 

Carl Eugene “Gene” Robinson passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the age of 83 surrounded by his family. He was born March 31, 1938 to William and Lena Robinson in Clay County, Kentucky. After graduating high school, Gene enlisted in the United States Air Force in Amarillo, Texas where served 4 years in the  Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. After leaving Amarillo and moving to Baton Rouge he began work for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier where he retired after many years of service. In his younger years, Gene was an owner of race horses and an avid horse racing fan. In his most recent years, Gene became a simple man who enjoyed sitting on the porch with his dog Minnie and spending time with his family. Gene is survived by his daughter, Tammy Robinson Smith and husband Raymond Smith, his son Steven Robinson and wife Jayna Robinson; grandchildren, Bradley Smith and wife Lindsey Smith, Bryan Smith, Jade Robinson Hoang and husband Peter Hoang, Jace Robinson, Joel Robinson; great-grandchildren, Lawson Smith, Grace Smith, Ella Smith, Gabriel Smith and Jude Hoang along with his ex-wife and long time friend till the end, Sharon Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Robinson, step-mother, Grace Miller Robinson and brother Billie Robinson. Gene “Paw Paw” will be truly missed by all his family and friends.
