Ira Wayne “Red” Skelton

May 6, 1943 ~ October 29, 2021

Ira “Red” Skelton passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 29, 2021 in the butterfly unit of Hospice at the age of 78. He was a native of Baker, LA and graduated from Baker High School in 1961. Red served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was a retired Industrial Firefighter from Dow Chemical. He is survived by his children Daniel Skelton and wife Judy, Mary Poe and husband Mark, Glynn Skelton and wife Pam, Ira Cook and husband Bert, 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his wife Janice Faye Skelton, parents Ira and Vivian Skelton and sister Kathleen Wilkinson. Visitation will be held at Christ Community Church 26574 Juban Road, Denham Springs, LA 70726, Tuesday, November 2, from 1 p.m – 3 p.m. with services beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Denham Springs, LA.
