Helgrid “Helli” Schafer Hoover

Helgrid “Helli” Schafer Hoover, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away as a result of cancer, on November 4, 2021. She was 76 years old, a resident of Satsuma, LA, and was born in Germany. She loved to read, crochet caps for kids, and birdwatch. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons, Michael Schafer (Kimberly McKinney), Earl Eric Hoover (Gina), Brian Hoover (Andrea), daughter Sylvia Wilson (James), grandchildren Brian Taylor Hoover, Dustin Michael Hoover, Justin Matthew Hoover, Lauryn Alizabeth Hoover, Alexis Gail Hoover, Zachary McKinney. Preceded in death by ex-husband Earl Sylvester Hoover, parents Erik Schafer, Elena Vorpahl Schafer, friend Melinda “Lindy” Trahan. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Clarity Hospice and St. Joseph Hospice. A private memorial service and internment will take place at a later date.
