Michael Joseph Fesgen
May 28, 1949 ~ November 8, 2021
Our beloved Michael “Mike” Joseph Fesgen of Walker passed away on November 8, 2021 at the age of 72 in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Mike came out a hero and stayed strong to the end.
Mr. Fesgen was born on May 28, 1949, son of the late Harry and Rita Fesgen. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam War. He was a brilliant cabinet maker until he retired. Mr. Fesgen met the love of his life, Nickie Cangelosi Fesgen on a blind date in 1969. It was love at first sight, and they were married in 1971. The loving couple recently renewed their wedding vows surrounded by family and friends this past June. Together, they had one child, Kimberly Fesgen Watts.
Mr. Fesgen was truly and inspiration to all his family and friends. He had a deep love for family. He was always there for all of the children, being a mentor, father figure, and friend. He enjoyed a good card game, watching wrestling matches, and western movies. He taught the boys of the family not to argue and fight by demonstrating his favorite wrestling move, the “head bump”. During family gatherings, football fans would not dare change the television channel while he was watching a western movie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Fesgen; and his sister, Margaret Ann Dunn. He is survived by h is wife, Nickie Cangelosi Fesgen; daughter, Kimberly Fesgen Watts, of Walker; grandchildren, Mason Watts, Austin Watts, and Brittany Watts; brother, Mark Fesgen (Cindy); sister, Melanie Fesgen; special nieces and nephews that he “adopted” as his own children; and great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Thursday, November 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and again, Friday, November 12, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30.
