Andrew “Andy” Salgo

Andrew “Andy” Salgo, 74, of Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2021 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after a valiant battle with tongue cancer. Andy was born on November 29th, 1946 to Alexander Saubermann and Jolanda Schechter Saubermann, in Bamberg, Germany. He and his family immigrated to the United States and gained citizenship in 1957; at this time, his birth name, Endre Saubermann, was changed to Andrew Salgo. Andy graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1964, and from Queens College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Andy worked for engineering firms across the states of New Jersey, New York, Texas, South Carolina, and Louisiana throughout his 40 year career in civil structural design. Andy is survived by devoted friend (Nancy McCrary), two daughters (Jennifer Corie and Kristin Scioneaux) and their spouses (M. Wesley Corie II and Mark Scioneaux), two grandchildren (Liesel and Emil Corie), and former spouse (Vera Salgo). Andy was an active member of Woodland Christian Church and was a sports fan, movie buff, music lover, theatre enthusiast, and avid reader. His sense of humor and perseverance were one of a kind. A small service and scattering of ashes will be held at a later time in honor of his memory.
