February 22, 1929 ~ January 23, 2022
Mary passed peacefully on January 23, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge attended by the caring staff, her granddaughter, and great grandson-in-law. She was 92, a native of Centreville, MS and a long-time resident of Walker, LA.
A retired Sears Roebuck Department Manager in Baton Rouge, her last three years were spent at Harvest Manor Nursing Home in Denham Springs. While there she made great friends, amused the staff and became proficient in Bingo and Pokeno. Loved by everyone there, she served as President on the Resident Council and was Mardi Gras Queen in 2020.
She meant the world to her grandkids, who are regularly quoted saying, “Without Grandmama and Gran, we would not have become what we are today.” She will never be forgotten by her grandson, Jonothan Farr and his partner, Wendy Keller of Seattle, WA and her granddaughter Terri Higginbotham and her husband, Jack of Walker, LA.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ash Hogarth and their husband Will of Exshaw, Alberta, Canada, and Alyssa Macomber and her husband Alistair.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Lawrence G. Farr SR, her sons, L. G. Farr Jr, and George Walter Farr, as well as her parents and siblings.
She will be remembered by all those who were treated like they were family when ever they chanced to visit with her. A life spent loving others unconditionally is a life well spent.
There will be a private burial in Port Hudson National Cemetery beside her husband.
