Theodore “Ted” DeBaene

Theodore “Ted” DeBaene, age 83, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Detroit, MI passed away peacefully in November 2021. Ted was a proud graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Ted continued with his education attending night school at Marquette University completing a pre-MBA program.  Ted then obtained his master’s in business administration after moving to Detroit, Michigan.  Ted’s professional career spanned 60 years with half of those years being Vice President at Owen and White, Inc. He continued his work in Floodplain Management by being recognized as the first Certified Floodplain Manager in Louisiana. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra “Sandee” Pugal DeBaene; his parents Edmond and Eleanor DeBaene; his sister Mary DeBaene Zwers; and special friend Patricia “Pat” Aubert. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gabrielle DeBaene Birdrow and George W Birdrow III; son, Christopher DeBaene; and grandchildren, George W Birdrow IV and Alexandra “Sandee” Birdrow. Ted enjoyed traveling, consulting, tennis, and playing bridge. He loved his family, Notre Dame, and his ‘girl’ Panda. Visitation at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am conducted by Reverend Thomas Ranzino and assisted by Deacon Peter Walsh.
