Larry Cortez Glover, Jr., passed away on April 23rd 2022, at his home in Walker at the age of 84. He was born in Denham Springs on December 28th 1937.
Larry started school at Denham Springs Elementary and discovered the game of basket- ball in the 3rd grade. As and 8th grader, he played on the DSHS varsity team where he received the nickname “Half Pint” because he was so small. In his senior year, 1956, DSHS won the State Class A basketball and softball championship. He was inducted into the Denham Springs Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. Larry continued his education at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA on a basketball scholarship where he lettered 4 years and lettered 2 years in baseball. He graduated cum laude in June 1960 as class president with a B.S. in Math Education. In 1968, he received his Master’s Degree in Education from LSU and then received his master’s plus 30 from Southeastern.
Larry’s first teaching and coaching job was in EBR parish at Central High School. He then taught one year at Glen Oaks High before returning to Central for 9 years. In 1971, Larry became Principal at McKinley Jr. High and in 1973, he became Assistant Principal at Baker Jr. High and in 1979, Principal at Prescott Jr. High. After 20 years of service in EBR Parish Schools, Larry retired and took a principalship in Hitchcock, TX, before becoming Assistant Principal at Clear Creek High in League City, TX.
In 1984, Larry became athletic director for C.C.I.S.D. and retired in 1993. That same year, he also retired from officiating in 4 conferences of NCAA basketball for over 20 years. After retiring, Larry and his wife Connie, move to Pagosa Springs, CO where they built a log house on a fishing lake at the foot of the San Juan Mountains.
Larry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Connie Wilkinson Glover, his sons Tommy Glover of Walker, LA and Tim Glover (Jennifer) of Houston, TX, his daughters Teresa Glover of Trabuco Canyon, CA and Tammy Glover Novak (Jack) of Dallas, TX; his brother, Malcolm Glover (Charlene) of Denham Springs, LA, and sisters Norma Fletcher of Snyder, TX and Pat Sartwell (J.W.) of Livingston, LA; his 6 grandchildren Jack and John Novak, Taryn Novak Federer (Austin) of Dallas, TX, Carrie Zeller of Denham Springs, LA, Mia and Kota Glover of Walker, LA ; and his 4 great-grandchildren Cora Federer of Dallas, TX, Olivia West of Trabuco Canyon, CA, Bayleigh and Maddox Martinez of Denham Springs, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents Larry Cortez, Sr. and Minnie Irene Whitehead Glover and father- and mother-in-law Rex Valry and Carrie Milton Wilkinson.

Visitation will take place Monday April 25, 2022 at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs from 5PM-9PM, visitation will resume Tuesday from 9AM-11 AM at Walker Baptist Church with an 11 AM service and burial in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
