Barbara Anne Grammar Hite

September 9, 1941 ~ April 27, 2022

There is no doubt when Barbara Anne Grammar Hite was greeted by Jesus on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, He said, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’ Matt. 25:23 (NKJV).

Barbara was born in Hopewell, Virginia on September 9, 1941 to Alice and Herbert Grammar. During her 80 years she was always devoted to her family, friends, her church and to God. She quietly led by example and definitely left an impression in the hearts of those left behind.  She survived by her husband of 63 years, Dailey J. Hite and their four girls: Cyndie Branch, Dale Webb (Glenn), Christina King George (Ronn) and Samantha Blades (Allen), 11 grandchildren/their spouses: Danielle (Chuck), Jennifer (Neil), Ben (Kylie), Brad (Dawn), Matthew (Katie), Cori (Serena), Necole (Donovan), Dustin (Kaitlyn), Richard (Kayleigh), Kristin (Chris) and Travis, and their 20 great-grandchildren (Hayden, Carley, Jadyn, Beau, Madison, Caleb, Glenn, Riley, Kamren, Brealyn, Riley S., Kinsley, Luke, Novah, Karcen, Berkleigh, Brynleigh, Jackson, Jay, and Baby King that is on the way. She is also survived by her brothers Herbert and Mike, and her sisters Clara and Viola. Preceding her in death are her parents, three brothers Clyde, Robert and Tommy and two son-in-laws Danny and Kevin.

The oldest of eight children she took on the role as a caregiver at an early age. She really was a good and faithful servant. Throughout her life if anyone had a need she did all she could to make sure that need was met. She was wise and sought God’s will in all she did through prayer and by studying his Word, and as a testament her Bible has many, many notes. She did everything out of love.  I Corinthians 13:4-8a explains what love is and it easily describes her. She was patient and kind; she did not envy others or boast; she was not arrogant or rude; she did not insist on her own way; she was not easily provoked or resentful. She rejoiced in the truth of her Heavenly Father, bearing all things, believing in all things good and from God, hoping in all things and enduring all things. Her love never failed. To this, she would probably roll her eyes, but it is true.

She loved cooking and feeding those in need, providing food for church functions and even making breakfasts on the side for a little extra. When she wasn’t running around taking care of someone else she was making notes of things to be done or working her puzzles. She also enjoyed being crafty and working in her yard. She believed in the importance of education and encouraged her children and grandchildren to continue to learn either through higher education or in the workforce. In other words, she believed in hard work and was seldom idle.

We invite you to celebrate her life, her love, and share precious memories with our family during visitation at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Visitation is on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 5:00-8:00pm and Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 9:00-10:00am, until the service at 10:00am led by her pastor, Rev. Chad Ward. Pallbearers are her grandsons. After the service the family will lay her body to rest at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pine Grove, but we all know she has already entered into the presence of the Lord and is with Him. In lieu of flowers anyone can donate toward the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery fund.

Barbara, Barb, Miss Barb, Barbara Anne, Momma, Mom, Nanny and Nan, all of our names of endearment for her, will be missed by all.
