Margaret “Maggie” McCrary
April 2, 1927 – May 3, 2022
“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6 Margaret “Maggie” Soileau McCrary was born April 2, 1927 in Palmetto, LA. Surrounded by her loving family, she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on May 3, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Denham Springs. Maggie lived until the blessed age of 95. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend to all. A lifelong member of Don Avenue Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, she enjoyed daily coffee and conversations with neighborhood friends. Gardening was her favorite hobby and she could often be found in her yard. She will be remembered for many things, but especially her faith in God and love of family. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul E. McCrary; parents: Ulysse and Pauline Soileau; Siblings: Ida Soileau Franks, Lillian Soileau Wright, Mary Ethel Soileau Paternostro, Marion Soileau, and Dumas Soileau; Son in Laws: Lawrence Valentine and Douglas Meadors. She is survived by her daughters: Paula Meadors, Jackie Valentine, Terri (Dave) Myshrall; Seven grandchildren: Lance (Kathy) Valentine, Jodi (Michael) McCleary, Lauren (Chad) Melton, Rachel (Kevin) Bradley, Brandon Scully, Connor Myshrall, Dustin (Stephanie) Myshrall; 14 Great Grandchildren: Brent, Blaine (Emily) and Tyler Valentine; Gracie (Gage Simoneaux), Mary Kathryn, and Matthew McCleary; Eli, Belle, and Lilah Melton; Jesse and Georgia Bradley; Ezra Scully, Lily and Jacob Myshrall; Great-Great Granddaughter: Charlotte Jane Valentine. The family will receive friends at Don Avenue Baptist Church in Denham Springs on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Green Oaks Mausoleum. Those honoring Maggie as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brandon Scully, Connor Myshrall, Brent Valentine, Matthew McCleary, Dustin Myshrall, and Gage Simoneaux. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Jevanda Gamble and Latonya Pierson for their dedication, compassion, and kindness given to “Maw Maw” during her time of need.
