At the age of 96, Allen Ray Sibley reached the end of his journey on Friday, May 27, 2022. He passed quietly surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pine Grove, Louisiana, he grew up riding horses, plowing the fields and walking to school. He joined the Army in February 1944 serving two tours of duty during World War II as a Military Policeman until his Honorable Discharge in April 1947. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He married the love of his life, Myrtis Abigail (Gail) Covington in December of 1950. He retired from South Central Bell with 25 years of service. Then after ten years with Louisiana State Police, he retired again. Over the years, he owned and trained many horses, cut hay, grew large family gardens, and had cows including his beloved Longhorns. For many years, he and Gail drove a wagon on the Dixie Trail Ride. A favorite tradition was riding in the Livingston Parish Fair Parade. He was also a deputy with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and rode with their Mounted Posse. He founded the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Posse served as a reserve deputy as well. Ray and Gail had seven children, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Celebrating his journey’s end are: children Jake Sibley, Cindi & Mike Carpenter, Randy & Carolyn Sibley, Amber & Larry McLin, and Steve Harwell; grandchildren Niki Fooshee, Jami Fooshee, Jason Sibley, Robbie & Mardy Fooshee, Jeff & Brittany Sibley, Michael Paul & Kristi Carpenter, Randelyn & Brad Nelson, Ashely & Brandon Kelly, Megan Salpietra, Brittney Rhodus and Louis Crowson, Tyler McLin, Katelyn & Thomas Adams, and Landon McLin; great grandchildren Austin Trent, Tanner, Beau, Trace, Gage, Jordan, Lincoln, Emily, Avrie, Brennan, Hailey, Mallory, Connor, Brylee, Britton, Ellie, Jaxon Pierce, Jaxon Murry, Gracelyn, Peyton, Ryan, Clara, Laila, Baylor and Segen; great-great grandson Lee. Welcoming him in Heaven are his loving wife of 67 years Gail, daughter Linda Harwell, infant twin sons John & Marvin Sibley, his parents Allen & Bernice Kennard Sibley, three sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be at Judson Baptist Church Monday, May 30th, from 2-6 pm and Tuesday, May 31st, 9 am until religious services at 11 am. Pallbearers will be grandsons Jason Sibley, Robbie Fooshee, Jeff Sibley, Michael Paul Carpenter, Tyler McLin, Brandon Kelly, Thomas Adams and great grandson Jordan Kelly. Melvin Wheat will serve as Honorary Pallbearer along with Ray’s other grandsons, great grandsons, and great-great grandson.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember so many trail rides with your mama and daddy. I also remember the many Walker Christmas parades with your daddy and Mr Redrick leading the pack.
I pray for God’s comfort and peace. Just know I love you all.
