William “Rick” Alford
William “Rick” Alford
Born January 14, 1963 to Arthur Travis and Hilda Simmons Alford, Rick passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 15th, 2022 in a tragic automobile accident. He grew up in Denham Springs, Louisiana and graduated from Denham Springs High. He worked most of his life as an auto parts manager after having worked alongside his dad in the family owned auto parts store, “One Ninety Auto Parts.” His closest companion in life was his recent mother, Hilda.
Rick enjoyed baseball and loved the game of pool. He lived a life full of adventure and everyone knew his carefree spirit, which kept him forever young. He was a gifted writer, poet, and storyteller. Much of his later writing was inspired by his childhood and family. He longed for a place “Where Time Stood Still.” He wrote:
“When I was a kid, I used to watch my grandma shuck corn or snap beans or peas for hours on end and I wondered how they could waste time like that. I never wanted to spend my kid time like that. Little did I know then what that time was about.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Randy Alford. He leaves behind his daughter Monica Alford-Guillot, son-in-law Cory Guillot, nephews Travis and Elliot Alford, niece Olivia Alford, aunts Beverly Jo Labruzzo, Patricia Skipper, and Mary Pyle, as well as many other family members and close friends.
Rick has entered the place where time no longer has limits, the place where time stands still, that place he always longed for, where he is finally at peace.
Services will be held Saturday, July 23rd 12 – 2pm with a 2pm memorial service at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his family’s memorial fund.
