Louis Manley Davis

September 1, 1934 ~ July 19, 2022

Louis Manley Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away quietly, to his eternal home with the Lord, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.  He was 87 years old.  He was born in Jonesboro, LA on September 1, 1934.  He loved growing up in the piney hills of Lincoln parish in North Louisiana.  He is a graduate of Weston High School and served in the U.S. Army at a missile base just outside of Rapid City, South Dakota.  While in South Dakota, he married his Louisiana sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth Norred.  After his military service, they moved back to Louisiana and settled in Greenwell Springs, LA.  “Louie”, as he was known by many, worked as an Instrument  Technician at Borden Chemical in Geismar, LA for 30 years. Louie was so proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He treasured any opportunity he had to spend with them.  His face would light up when he was able to hold any of his grandchildren. While not a hunter or fisherman, Louie loved the outdoors.  Whether it was working in his garden, making new trails on his rural Mississippi property or just sitting around spending time with his family, he loved being outdoors.  Being out in God’s creation brought a joy and contentment that was deeply rooted into his life.  He would often talk about his experiences growing up in rural Louisiana.  Louie could remember the names of people and how each individual fit into the community he so dearly loved. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Norred, sons Donald Davis (Rhoda), Michael Davis (Deborah) and Mark Davis. He had four grandchildren, Nicole Magill (Phillip), Morgan Dinecola (Rip), Regan Sanders (Cody) and Carson Davis and eight great grandchildren, Reese, Molly and Camden Magill and Ava, Adelyn (Ady), Millie, Grainger and Hudson Dinecola. Louie is preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Davis, Sr. and Willie Odell Wyatt Davis, his brothers, John Robert Davis, William Henry Davis, Jr. and his sister Edwina Davis Pool. Funeral services on Saturday, July 23, 2022 will be held at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church.  Visitation will be from 9am-11am with the service from 11am-noon.  Burial will be Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 1pm-3pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Jonesboro, LA.

The family would like to thank Pam, Louise, Sherina and others who graciously spent their time caring for Louie. A special thanks to Audubon Hospice who cared for him in such a gentle, caring professional manner.  Our family is extremely grateful.
