Clinton Francis McKernan
June 7, 1941 ~ May 13, 2022
Clinton Francis “Jerry” McKernan, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 13, 2022. Jerry was born on June 7, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but spent most of his adult life in Louisiana.
Jerry met the love of his life, Regina Troxell, at the young ages of 7 and 4 while living across the street from one another. They married in 1965 and have 2 sons, Jerry and Scott. The family made a big move to Louisiana in 1975 and it is there that they came to know and love Christ.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving father, Jerry also loved singing in the church choir, serving the church as a deacon, and teaching Sunday School. Throughout his entire life, his faith in God was unwavering and he loved to share his faith with those around him. Jerry served as a medic in the United States Air Force for several years and had a deep love for his country. Jerry was a talented carpenter and electrical designer. In his spare time, you could find him riding his John Deere and taking care of his property, drinking a cup of tea on his patio with his loving wife, Jina, or loving on his puppy, Joy. Jerry lived his life devoted to the Lord, his family, and his country.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Frankie McKernan and his mother, Betty Gonano; brother in-laws, Tom Blewett and Jim Troxell; and niece, Sandra Blewett. He is survived by his wife, Regina McKernan; sons, Jerry McKernan (Connie); and Scott McKernan (Angie). He loved his four grandchildren, Jaclyn Waldron (Thomas), Jessica McKernan, Karlee McKernan, and Caleb McKernan; and great grandchildren, Gemma Waldron and Johnny Waldron; brothers Joe Ley (Donna) and Grant Ley; and sister in-laws, Dolly Blewett, and Sandie Gossman (Bill) who he thought of as a sister.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Live Oak United Methodist Church, Watson, from 1 p.m. until the celebration of his life at 2 p.m.
A special thank you to Dr. Mark Crosby, Bro Stephen Hebert and the staff at Live Oak United Methodist Church.
