Richard Craig Dupuy, Sr.

Richard Craig Dupuy, Sr., 76, died in Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, September 1st, 2022. Craig was born January 25th, 1946 at the old OLOL hospital in downtown Baton Rouge. He completed primary school at St. Anthony in ‘60 and graduated Catholic High class of ‘64, where he competed in shooting, track & field, and football. He earned a B.S. in Business in ‘69 from LSU. He worked at Louisiana’s Office of State Purchasing for three decades, was a certified purchasing manager, and was a past president of the Louisiana Chapter of NIGP. He loved LSU and Saints football, family events, and debating politics with everyone.
Craig is survived by his wife, Delores Marie Smith Dupuy; sons Richard Craig, Jr. (Kerry), Adam Joseph, Sr. (Hope), Christopher Allen (Tammy), Max Elliot; daughter, Bernadette Elizabeth; grandsons Adam Joseph, Jr., Daniel Jeffrey, and Galen Conrad Diderot Dupuy; and innumerable nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Samuel Dupuy, Sr., and mother, Josie Marie Jumonville Dupuy; brothers, Clarence Samuel, Jr. “Beaux” and Joseph Wallis “Joe” “Jay”; sister-in-law Nancy Ivens Dupuy; niece Elizabeth Ann “Lisa” Dupuy; and grandniece Morgan Cooper.
Craig said, as a parting message, that he wanted to leave all his family and friends with blessings from God. A funeral mass at St. Thomas More and a subsequent memorial service will be held soon.
