May 17, 1949 – October 16, 2022
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day – and not only me, but also to all who have longed for his appearance.” 2 Timothy: 4:7-8.
Dianne Hughes Griffin a longtime resident of Denham Springs, LA passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the age of 73. Dianne a native of Monroe, LA was born on May 17, 1949. Dianne’s resilience, determination, love and encouragement from her Aunt Jean, enabled her to overcome significant physical challenges during her childhood.
A devoted friend, stepmother, sister, and co-worker, Dianne experienced so much joy in helping and doing for others. Dianne worked at Mary Bird Perkins and Our Lady of the Lake for over 20 years and held deep affection for her tumor registry extended family. She was passionate about her work and absolutely loved working among the tumor registry community. She made numerous friendships throughout the state and was the expert at anything and everything related to tumor conference. Dianne enjoyed taking annual bus trips and traveled across the country. She would start planning the next trip as soon as one ended. She enjoyed the fellowship and card games along the way as much as the attractions.
She is survived by Emma Jean McNeil “Aunt Jean” who held a very special place in her heart, three siblings, sister Kim Williams (LC), brother James “Jimmy” Hughes (Cindy) and brother Glenn Thomas (Kathy), stepsons Mark Griffin and James Griffin (Rhonda), granddaughters Tylar, Kennedy, and Reece Griffin, special niece Kristy (Bryan) and many dear friends, including Nicole Magee, Trish Robin, Terry Freeman, and Loan Tang. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Colan H. Griffin, parents William D. Hughes of Canton, Ohio and Rachel Taylor Thomas of Monroe, LA. We would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Old Jefferson Community Care Center, especially Rachel, Danielle, and the many nursing assistants who cared for her and took the time to visit with her.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Ave, Denham Springs, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service at 2:00 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Billy Johnson. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 1710 S. Dianne touched many lives for the better as she walked through a life well lived. She was a feisty force to be reckoned with but a loyal friend to all who had the honor of truly knowing her. She will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to her family and all who had the honor of knowing her as a friend to the end.
