Carlos Davenport

On October 18, 2022, Carlos Maurice “Los” Davenport unexpectedly passed away at 38 years of age in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Carlos was born May 17, 1984, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up there with his parents, siblings, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who made him feel special. Carlos particularly valued the time spent with the older ones in his family. He learned many life lessons and shared many laughs with his aunts and uncles. Carlos, along with Lila and Brandon (his siblings), would affectionately call each other “Booger”. Music and food were a staple in the Davenport home. Carlos always carried two drumsticks everywhere and was always ready for impromptu performances. New Orleans, Creole-style cuisine was at the top of his favorite food list. Chinese food was a close second! He would cook for others and loved trying to master his mother’s recipes.

As a young child, he consistently expressed love for his Creator, Jehovah God. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2002 at age 17. He continued to grow as a spiritual person. Over many years he enjoyed theocratic privileges such as volunteering in the community to share Bible truths, including in seldom worked territories. He found joy in helping with Kingdom Hall renovations and disaster relief. He served as an elder in the congregation and was known to be a loving and gentle shepherd. He was unselfish in his love, duty, and responsibilities. He was to attend his first Elder’s School in 2023.

On November 25, 2005, he married Kaci Buller, the love of his life and best friend. It was apparent to all how deeply he loved her. Together they loved traveling and experiencing new things like basking in the Smoky Mountain sunsets, swimming with dolphins, trying exotic cuisine, and making new memories with friends. They made a success of marriage by constantly encouraging each other, reaching out to meet spiritual goals, and keeping Jehovah in the forefront. The Buller family was ecstatic to have such a fine son-in-law.

On a personal note, Carlos was known for his intensely moving prayers, kind nature, and personableness. Our dear friend, brother, and confidant will be remembered indefinitely for his enveloping bear hugs, contagious smile, infectious laugh, and never-ending optimism. Carlos had an incomparable way of expressing himself. All who knew him can probably still hear him saying in a low, heavy whisper, “wo—ow” when he was amazed at something.

He also had other interests, which were secondary to his service to Jehovah. Carlos was self-taught in computer technologies and a hard-working businessperson. He worked on various endeavors, including building his own managed service provider company that remotely manages client IT infrastructure. During this 20-year-long career, Carlos was always forward-thinking. He was expecting to complete authoring a book on the subject this year.

Music was a provision from our Creator that Carlos thoroughly enjoyed. He felt music deeply in his soul. True to his New Orleans heritage, Carlos loved jazz. He played the drums and liked creating different beats in his spare time.

Carlos will be dearly missed but not forgotten by his loving wife, Kaci Davenport, his parents Karl Davenport, and Stephanie Turner Davenport; his siblings Lila (William) Clinton, and Brandon Davenport; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We all look forward to that day when Jehovah calls his name, and Carlos awakens to a beautiful paradise.
