Kay Mock

November 16, 1941 ~ October 18, 2022

Kay was a happy person. She had a beautiful spirit and a positive attitude toward life. Family was very important to her and she cherished her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed a passion for music and reading and her cooking skills were surpassed only by her love for sharing meals. Kay had a lively intellect and was well versed on many subjects. Kay passed away at The Hospice of Baton Rouge on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from heart failure at the age of 80. She resided in Baton Rouge with her husband, Robert Mock, to whom she was married for over 47 years. Kay was born November 16, 1941 in Zachary and from a young age was raised in Hammond. She was the daughter of Pete and Liz Iverstine and had two brothers. Her parents and older brother are deceased. From her first marriage, she had three children with one daughter surviving her along with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Throughout her adult life Kay lived in various places in Louisiana and Texas. Music was a dominant feature in Kay’s life, from singing to playing the piano. She received formal training in both areas and was a lyric soprano operatic singer and classical pianist. Singing in the church choir was routine for Kay and she very often performed at special events. She graduated from Acadia Baptist Academy and attended Upper Iowa University. As to her work life, Kay was a purchasing agent and accountant holding jobs with construction companies, non-profit organizations, and the civil office of a law enforcement agency. Kay was a Christian and devout believer in God and Jesus. She practiced the belief that all things are possible through prayer and she prayed daily. As her husband and best friend, I believe her spirit and soul are, today, at peace with the Lord. Her earthly pain and suffering have ceased and she is eternally secure in our Savior. I shall love and miss her all of my remaining days.

A visitation memorial will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, 11am – 1pm at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 South Range Ave., Denham Springs, LA 70726.
