Marie (Hodges) Templet
Marie Alice Templet (Buff Hodges) age 79 got her wings and flew with the Angels on November 22, 2022, at 5:04pm at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA following a stay at Baton Rouge General Hospital.
Alice was born February 15, 1943 in Baton Rouge, LA to Esther and Edward Templet. She was a 1961 graduate of Walker High School, married William E. “Bill” Hodges Jr and had 3 beautiful sons Billy, Tommy, and Ricky. She was a devoted and loving mother who always put her family first.
Alice had many occupations over the years. In her early years, she worked in the Secretary of State office as a switchboard operator. In the early 70’s, she was the second woman hired onto operations at Exxon Refinery as she worked many years as an operator. Alice was a very strong, educated, and hardworking woman taking pride that she worked in a “man’s” world. Later she became a businesswoman working in advertising and real estate which grew her passion for business and politics.
Alice left a legacy and taught her children and grandchildren many life lessons that will be cherished forever. A few of these lessons include independence-how to stand up for what they believed in, never take “no” for an answer, and to never stop dreaming to pursue your goals. Her grandchildren described her as spicy, spunky, sassy, classy, and even a bit smartassy, but most importantly she would give the shirt off her back to those in need.
She is survived by her three sons Billy Hodges of Lawrenceville, GA; Tommy Hodges (wife Laura) of Denham Springs, LA; Ricky Hodges of Jamestown, NC; sisters Gale Hermesch (husband Gene) of Baton Rouge, LA; Cathy White (husband Bill) of Clinton, LA; brother Kenny Buff (wife Kris) of Joplin, MO; 8 grandchildren Amber Hodges of Jacksonville, FL; Taylor Hodges of Welcome, NC; Will “Drew” Hodges of Flowery Branch, GA; Avery Hodges of Raleigh, NC; Reilly Hodges of Jamestown, NC; Hunter Hodges, Hayden Hodges, and Haylee Hodges all of Denham Springs, LA; great grandchild Charlotte Elizabeth Brown with baby sibling on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Esther and Charles Buff, and brother David Buff.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA on Sunday, November 27th, 2022. Visitation will be 4-6pm, services will follow at 6pm. Family and friends are welcome to the celebration of Alice’s life. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Baton Rouge General Hospital and to The Carpenter House for taking such special care of our mom.
