Victoria Lora Alvarez Nuernberg
Victoria Lora Nuernberg, of Baton Rouge, passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on December 10, 2022 after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 23,1936 to Juan Burgos and Media Luna in Campechuela, Oriente Province, Cuba. In 1959, Victoria came to America as an “Historical Exile” refugee and after a long and arduous process, later became a proud American citizen.
On September 25,1965 Victoria married the love of her life, Don and together they raised their son Michael. Victoria loved and cared for her family beyond measure. She was well known and loved for her beautiful smile, her delicious hand decorated cakes, the ability to raise a bountiful garden, and the gorgeous flowers that she grew. Victoria had the ability to take a minimal amount of ingredients and turn it into a wonderful meal, in a moment’s notice. It didn’t matter if it was 3 people or 10 people, there would always be enough food. Due to the unrelenting love for her husband and son, she was known for awakening early every morning and making homemade biscuits, so that Don could take them to work to share with his co-workers. She would then have a hot home cooked breakfast ready, for when Michael got ready for school.
Victoria leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Don Nuernberg, her son Michael Nuernberg (Wynetta) of Butte, Alaska, a granddaughter Monica Ketchum (Casey) of Anchorage, Alaska and 2 great grandchildren Elowen and Tyr.
A casual get together to celebrate Victoria’s life will be held for family and friends, to be decided at a later date.
