William “Mike” Elmore
June 15, 1948 – December 7, 2022
William Mike Elmore peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the age of 74. He was a resident of Port Vincent along with his wife of forty-eight years, Cheryl “Cherry” Abbott Elmore and their two children. Mike’s loving, caring, passionate spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him. He served in the Navy and was a member of the Local Union 198. He was a Supervisor/Planner at Texaco/Motiva Refinery. He, along with family, owned Movieland/Star Video in Port Vincent for nineteen years. He loved taking trips on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, taking care of his cows, and most of all, spending time with family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Angela Elmore; daughter and son-in-law, Phanessa and Scott Gourney; grandsons, Mitch Gourney and wife Lauren, Dusty Elmore; granddaughter, Skylar Thomasson and husband Marshall; great-grandsons, Cooper and Oliver Gourney; brothers-in-law, Arty Franzello, Lynwood Abbott and wife Maynell, William “Bill Jr.” Abbott and wife Carol, John Abbott and wife Nancy, and Steve Buratt; sisters-in-law, Nancy Elmore, Carolyn Brady, Fabian Brady and husband Robert “Shorty”, Rosemary “Rosie” Barnett and husband John, and Julie Chutz; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Bandit. He was proceeded in death by his wife Cherry; parents, Helen Irene Galvin and William Henry Elmore III; brother, William “Billy” Elmore; sister, Donna Elmore Franzello; mother and father-in-law, Elaine Margaret Jenks and William Simon Abbott Jr.; brothers-in-law, Walter “Bootsy” Abbott and wife Lorraine, Milton Gary Brady; sister-in-law, Nancy Buratt; nephew, Brett Brady; niece, Jennifer Abbott Guitreau. There will be a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am with Rev. Jason Palermo, Celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Williams Cemetery in Port Vincent. Pallbearers will be Mitch Gourney, Dusty Elmore, Marshall Thomasson, Wade Brady, Derek Brady, Steve “J.R.” Buratt, John Barnett III, and Nick Abbott. The family would like to send a special thanks to the Port Vincent Fire Department, Port Vincent and Livingston Police Departments, Acadian Paramedics, the ICU staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, and Father Jason Palermo with St. Joseph Catholic Church.
