Georgia King Papizan

Georgia King Papizan, born in Amite, La and a lifelong resident of Central and Watson, met her Lord and Savior on December 16, 2022, at age 62, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, nurse and the most incredible GiGi to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband and favorite fishing buddy of 24 years, James Roy Papizan; her son James “Jamie” Vincent Dipuma; her daughter and son-in-law Brittany Dipuma Hughes and Matthew Hughes; her step sons and daughter-in-laws William “Billy” Joseph and Alexis Papizan and Micheal Scott Papizan and Danielle Bueche; the biggest piece of her heart, her precious “G-babies” Bryce, Presley, Madisyn, Isabella, Ryann, Harlyn, Avery, Korben, and Emery; her precious mother Doris Price Russell; her step mother Myra King and her siblings Carolyn King, Albert King, and John King.

She was preceded in death by her fathers Beverly T. King, Jr and Athel C. Russell; her brother Beverly “Bubby” T. King, III, and several special aunts, uncles and cousins.

Georgia graduated from Central High School in 1977.  After high school, she worked for several years at Louisiana State University’s Earl K Long where she found her passion for serving and caring for others. She graduated from Baton Rouge Vocational Technical Institute as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1994 and went on to serve the patients of The Care Center, Flannery Oaks Guest House, Dixon Medical Center and Promise Healthcare over her 28 year nursing career. Her fellow nurses became her family and some of her patients too. She was most recently a school nurse for Livingston Parish School Board serving the students of Walker High School. The students and faculty of the Walker community stole her heart. Georgia’s caring spirit was contagious and her love for others was an endless light shining bright. She was a strong woman of faith that emulated the love of God by loving everyone with grace and without judgement.

In Georgia’s honor, go into the world and love your family, friends, and even strangers with the same love and grace that our God does. Jesus says in John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give you: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know you are my disciples, when you love each other.”
