Alice Dean Bankston Sullivan

Alice Dean (Bankston) Sullivan, 87, passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on Friday, December 16, 2022. A long-time resident of Holden, Louisiana, she moved to Texas in July to spend her last days with family. Alice defied medical odds many times but ultimately succumbed to a rare neurological disorder.

Alice Dean was born October 5, 1935, and married her beloved Dalton Winfrey (Windy) Sullivan on May 8, 1954. They were devoted members of Magnolia Baptist Church for decades where Alice served in numerous positions; most notably, Vacation Bible School Director, Church Hostess and Church Treasurer. She worked at Fidelity National Bank for many years before retiring to be a full-time homemaker. She diligently cared for Windy prior to his passing in 2001 and was committed to bettering her community by investing in others until they were reunited in heaven.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings and their spouses, and many dear friends who were family to her after Windy’s passing. She is survived by daughter Beverly Hodges and husband, Don; granddaughter Casan (Casi) Bowers and husband, David; great-granddaughters Taylor Pursley and Sophia Bowers, who were the absolute lights of her life; and a host of loyal and cherished friends in her beloved Magnolia community.

A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on December 28 at Stafford Cemetery in Holden.  Reverend Richard Wallace will officiate the final farewell for this spunky and vivacious woman as part of Alice’s last requests.
