Cheryl Sloane Rosemann

Cheryl Sloane Rosemann, age 60, succumbed to complications from breast cancer and died in Baton Rouge, on Thursday, December 15 th . Cheryl, a longtime resident of Denham Springs, LA, was born to the late Roy Sloane and Irene Fontenot on November 25, 1962 in Freeport, TX. She attended East St John High School in Reserve, LA.

She is survived by her parents: Lee and Irene Fontenot, her siblings: Pam Sloane, Jesse Sloane, Kelli Jo Sloane, Paul Fontenot, Leeann Fontenot, and Terri Fontenot Nichols; Michael Nichols; and her children: Ashley Corbin, Nicole Johnston, Amanda; Cy Germany, Loni Burns Trabeaux, and Shelly Rosemann. Cheryl was never prouder than when she was bragging on her many grandchildren: Lucas Falcetti; Morgan Babin; Olivia, Brooklynn; Matthew Johnston; Noah Elsaleh; Abigail Hess; Attikus Trabeaux; Illiana (Lilli), Lilah, ; Levi Martin. She also leaves behind many well-loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; cousins, and numerous friends that became family.

She was predeceased by her father, Roy Sloane; her half-brother Kenneth Sloane, her ex- husband David Rosemann, and her son-in-law Joshua Johnston. Cheryl’s “happy place” was a sunny beach. She enjoyed crafts and refinishing furniture, always having a knack for seeing hidden beauty in an otherwise discarded item. She loved animals of all kinds, and volunteered at her local animal shelter. Cheryl embraced her uniqueness and inner “hippie”. Her signature looks included tie-dye, bright nail polish, and crazy, often mismatched socks. She loved laughing at her own silly jokes and did her best to turn every mundane errand into a fun adventure for whomever accompanied her. She was generous to a fault, happy to share whatever she had, and her door was always open to those who needed a new place to be home.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday January 20th, from 5-8 PM at the Guru, 1857 Government Street, Baton Rouge. Memorial donations can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society, the Susan G Komen Foundation, or the Denham Springs Animal Shelter.
