Deborah Corley Chutz, passed away at the age of 57 in Denham Springs, Louisiana, on December 20, 2022. Debbie was born to Elmus and Stella Corley on July 23, 1965, in Baton Rouge. She graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1985. She was an athlete participating in softball and basketball. She then went on to graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University. Debbie spent a few years working for the Livingston Sheriff’s Department and then as a paralegal at LA Department of Environmental Quality and LA Division of Administrative Law. After this Debbie decided to change paths and become a teacher. She taught at Live Oak High School for 20 years. She taught history and was the sponsor of many extra-curricular activities, including Live Oak Softball’s self-named “assistant coach” and a sponsor for Eaglettes. She was loved by her students and faculty members and named Teacher of the Year. Alongside of school, she was a member of Live Oak Church. Debbie also enjoyed LSU football, playing golf, and anything Elvis. However, her most prized possession was her daughter, Corley Chutz McDaniel. Debbie loved Watson and she was always willing to be a helping hand and cared for the entire community. She was predeceased by her father Elmus Corley, Aunt Pam Corley, and grandparents Blackie and Sis Corley, Eloise and Sid Montgomery, and Howard and Eula Clouarte. She is survived by mother Stella Corley, daughter Corley Chutz McDaniel and her husband Tanner, brother Jeff Corley and his wife Lisa, nephews Chase and wife, Ashley, and Bryce Corley, niece Raegan Corley, great nieces Braleigh and Anniston Corley, and nephew Kasten, Uncle Elton Corley, Aunt Barbara and husband Ricky Chandler and great Uncle Jack Corley. Visiting hours will be held at Live Oak Church, 34890 LA Hwy 16 Denham Springs, LA, on Monday, December 26, 2022, from 4:00pm to 6:30pm with the funeral to follow. Burial will be held at Lanier Family Cemetery, 37524 John Lanier Rd, Walker, Louisiana 70785, on Tuesday December 27, 2022 at 10am. Pallbearers include Jeff Corley, Bryce Corley, Chase Corley, Mike Lanier, William Shelby Jr., and Anthony White. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Corley, Elton Corley, Mark Tanner McDaniel, and Richard Williams. The family wished to extend their sincerest thanks to Bro. Mark Crosby, Live Oak Church, Golden Age Healthcare Center, and The Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Live Oak Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Deborah Chutz.
