Gregory Pierce Newsom

Gregory P. Newsom (68), of Greensburg, Louisiana passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. Visitation will be held at Days United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 9;00am until funeral services at 12:00pm. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Greg” was born to James T. Newsom and Magnolia P. Newsom on August 13, 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Belaire High School and studied at LSU. He retired from Louisiana Department of Corrections as an officer. Greg is survived by his wife of 11 years, Dottie Newsom and sons Roy and Patrick; daughter Rosemarie and her daughter Abigail. Greg is also survived by his nieces, Morgan Couvillion and Courtney Rice. His great nieces Sadie and Libby Simpson; and great nephew Dylan Couvillion. His cousins Mina Jean Travis and her daughter Gabby and husband Gene; Mina Jean’s sons Ellison and Tom Travis; Ellison’s sons, Kemp and Reid Travis; Tom and Saba Travis. Greg was proceeded in death by his parents, James T. and Magnolia P. Newsom, and his siter Ferbe’ A. Newsom. Greg was an avid outdoorsman and loved being a father and husband. He loved to travel with his wife Dottie, and enjoyed fellowship at Days United Methodist Church and also attended Living hope Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
