Armon Ray Hines

Armon (Ray) Hines, 82, of Denham Springs, LA, affectionately known as PawPaw, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 after a brief illness. Ray was born in Mississippi and spent many years working throughout the southeast United States but ultimately settled in Denham Springs, LA with his wife and children.  Ray was preceded in death by his father Walden Henry Hines (1954), his mother Effie Mae Hines Glover (1991), a brother Francis Noel Hines, his son Skipper Vick and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ray was a veteran of the Navy but never wanted to burden the VA for his care.  He always felt others needed VA more than he.  Ray spent his working career as a welder in the construction industry and in his retirement years the home and his yard were his happiest places. Ray is survived by his devoted wife, Lavetta (Polly) Hines, five sons and two daughters residing in LA, GA, NC and TN, his sister Laverne Lambert of Natchez, MS, his adoring daughter-in-law Misty Kinney, and 21 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray never met a stranger that he could not shoot the breeze with or a lady he did not want to flirt with to the very end even with the nurses in the hospital. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA on Tuesday, February 7, from 3:30 p.m. until service at 4:30 p.m. with cremation to follow.  There will be no graveside service as interment will follow later during a private service.
