Our family unexpectedly lost our family’s matriarch, Gloria “Glo” Rushing Braud, on February 9th, 2023. She was 86 years old.
Gloria was born on March 7th, 1936 to Mr. And Mrs. U.U. Rushing in Baton Rouge, LA. During her school years at Istrouma High she became a prominent musician playing both the clarinet and the oboe, later getting a full scholarship. Gloria married her High School sweetheart and they promptly began their family.
Gloria was an essential asset to the family business. She was a bookkeeper for both U.U. Rushing and Sons Flooring as well as Cherry’s Potato Chips. She later became a very well-known Realtor in the Greater Baton Rouge area winning several awards. Although she had many accomplishments in her lifetime, her greatest achievement in her eyes was her family.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Joni Braud Cook. Forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren Greggory Coleman Jr and wife Katina, Jennifer Coleman McCoy, and Jessica Lowry. Great-Grandchildren Greggory III, Sebastian, Medea, Grant, Phillip, Stephen II, KaRynne, Zakkary, Zander, Genevieve, and Leia Rey. Great, Great-grandchildren Weston and Jaxson.
Gloria was proceeded in death by her husband Marzelle Braud Sr, daughters Debra Kay and Kathy, son Marzelle Louis Jr, parents Mr. and Mrs. U.U. Rushing, brother Darrel Rushing, and Grandson Stephen Coleman.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Denham Springs on Thursday, February 16th starting at 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1pm. There will be a procession to the Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery for burial after.
