Andrew Edwin Watts, Sr.

Beloved Daddy and Paw Paw, Andrew Edwin Watts Sr., 81, of Denham Springs, passed away on February 23, 2023 from congestive heart disease.  Andrew was born in Frost, Louisiana in December of 1941 to Dennis and Veda Mae Watts and was named after his maternal uncle, Andrew Sibley and Uncle Morris Edwin Miller who was married to his maternal Aunt Lillie (Sibley). He graduated from Doyle High School and then graduated with a degree in Agriculture from Southeastern University in 1967. From there he worked at Winn Dixie for over 32 years as a loyal, dedicated employee, and he prided himself on having the best produce sections in numerous stores. Andrew was always willing to help anyone who needed it and stressed to his children the importance of helping others as well as the importance of attending church and putting God first. He also expected his children to call adults by titles whether it was Mrs., Mr., aunt, or uncle as well as to say ma’am and sir. He enjoyed owning a variety of cars, raising his four children because he was number four out of seven, spending time with family, cooking, attending church, watching television, taking day trips, and talking on the phone to family and friends. He was the major source for keeping in touch with immediate and extended family through phone calls and visits. He often had a phone in his hand! Some of the family-favorite recipes through the years were his homemade ice cream, pancakes, and his unique french toast. If you stopped by his house, he always had some strong coffee (Community, of course) for his guests.  In Andrew’s healthier days, he enjoyed day trips to Vicksburg, St. Francisville, and the Mississippi coast where his youngest sister, Peggy, and her family, lived for many years. Andrew is survived by his two sons, Andrew (Andy) Jr. and Jay and his wife, Molly, of Baton Rouge, and his two daughters, Danielle Mello and her husband, Tim, of Dover, Delaware, and Velinda and Mike Burrick of Watson. In addition, he is survived by his 12 grandchildren-6 boys and 6 girls of which he was very proud: Brennan, Ace, Kristen, Katie, Jason, Tiffany, Christian, Rachael, James, Joelle, Joanna, and Owen, nieces, nephews, his brothers and their spouses; Norwood and his wife, Judy, Jerry and his wife, Karen, Bobby and his wife, Annabelle; his sister, Peggy and her husband, Lane, his brother-in-law, Marvin, as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Audrey Onellion and Marion Thornton, and Marion’s spouse Robert Thornton Sr. whom he considered a close friend. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 28 from 5:00-8:00 at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston and Wednesday, March 1 from 10:00 with the service starting at 11 at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston, Louisiana with a graveside service at Sibley Family Cemetery.
