Stanley “Poppy” Thornton

August 17, 1944 – March 21, 2023

A loving, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He was 78 years old. Poppy enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and doing crossword puzzles. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughter, Marie Watford and husband Greg; son, Dustin Thornton and wife, Cindy; stepson, Dave Trail; eleven grandchildren, Brittany, Charity, Savannah, Michelle, Ashley, Shaun, Victor, Brooke, Jerian, Justin, Jordan; numerous nieces, nephews and many great grandchildren and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held at Fundamental Baptist Church, 24240 S. Frost Rd. Livingston, LA on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 3pm, conducted by Rev. Joey Wampler. He was preceded in death by two wives, Vivian Thornton, Shirley Lewis Thornton; son, John Thornton and sister, Jerrie Cottrill. Condolences may be offered at
