Linda Sue Tarver Ricouard
Linda Sue Tarver Ricouard, originally of Independence, LA and a long-time resident of Livingston Parish, passed gracefully from this life to the next on March 29th at home with her family. She lived 74 years of extraordinary life. She is preceded by so very many including her father Haney C. Tarver and her most beloved mother, Adell Rushing Tarver. She is also survived by so many that loved her including her children & their families: Bridgette & G. (Lynda Lou, Lauren, & Shane), Chris & Dana (Victor & Devin), Melissa & Carlos (Felicity & Faith, & their father Cayl, Coby & Gage), Bobby (Madeline), Ricky (Mandy, Shauna, Ashley), and Darla & Dub (Derek, Dillon, Demi). She has many beloved brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren both near and far, and many, many people that grew up at her house and happily consider themselves extended family.
She herself grew up on a farm and unfailingly credited her mother’s extraordinary example, for the incredible work ethic that so many admired her for. She put herself through Jr. College, began her career as a valued book keeper, rose to CFO, and concluded her working life as a successful business owner along with her former husband and friend for over 50 years, Robert Ricouard, Jr. She participated in many organizations and supported many charities, and for her work she received many awards in the business community. But her most treasured award was a meritorious commendation from then Governor Edwin Edwards. This she proudly displayed in her office right alongside the blue ribbons from the Livingston Parish Fair for her decades of best-in-show ferns and tropical plants, and the blue prints that she was most currently doing take-off estimates on.
She was well-read, open-minded, possessed of a wicked sense of humor, played a mean game of pool, and supported herself early in life with fairly consistent poker winnings. She made beautiful quilts and sewed countless outfits. She baked and decorated wedding cakes and would never accept payment for her gift of them. She was a snappy dresser but at the camp, or in the kitchen, or the garden her capri pants with bulging pockets contained fishing lures, pruning shears, garden spades, and always a handkerchief to wipe a child’s nose. She was ever at the ready to help those in calamity and opened her home to many, many displaced family members. She diligently and lovingly cared for her mother and her in-laws to the end of their days. It was our pleasure and our honor to know her, love her, and to return the favor. She will ever be missed but we send her to the stars with our love.
