October 8, 1950 ~ March 25, 2023

On March 25, 2023 the good Lord called Janie home where she passed away at her residence with family by her side.

Janie was born October 8,1950 in Conroe, Texas. She grew up in Lafayette, La and was a graduate of Lafayette High School. Janie later relocated to Baton Rouge, La where she planted her roots and remained for the rest of her days.

Janie married the love of her life, started a family, and achieved success co-owning a well-respected local mechanic shop alongside her husband.

Janie is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Dennie H. Hill, daughters BrandY L. Brown and Jennifer B. Hill, son Johnnie R. Hough and wife Courtney, Sister Connie Walker and husband Richard, Brother Jeff Chappell and wife Peggy, Sister-in-law Debbie Hill, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Janie ‘Grandma’ had four precious grandchildren who she loved very much: Hannah L. Brown, Tyler M. Brown, Baylee Hough, and Lacie Beth Hough.

Janie was preceded in death by her father, Loren Willard Chappell, mother, Cordia “Jerry” (Neal) Chappell, brother, Jim Chappell, sister, Kathy Hopkins, niece, Deb Hardy, and brother-in-law, Curtis Hill.

Janie was genuine, thoughtful and kind. She was impressively witty and respectfully wise. Regardless of the situation you could always count on her to cheer you up. Janie was Spunky and silly with such a sweet soul, you are/will be missed more than you know.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Ochsner Medical Center, along with the caring staff from Hospice of Baton Rouge for their continuous, compassionate care in Janie’s final days.
