Shelton “Pete” Barry Melancon passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the age of 77. He is a former resident of Denham Springs and a 1963 graduate of Gonzales High School. He loved hunting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Pete was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Tara Melancon Normand; two grandchildren, Carlee, and Carter Normand; sister, Delores Acosta. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Melancon; father, Carl Melancon; brothers, Norman Melancon, Donnie Melancon and Larry Melancon; sister, Nella Sherman.
Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., which will include Masonic Services for him as well.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to LeGrand Healthcare and Rehabilitation and Elara Caring Hospice for the loving care that they provided during his final years. The family is also extremely grateful for Jessika Cleveland Melancon for all the love and support that she provided for my dad over the years.
