Charles Robert “Bob” Jackson

Charles Robert ‘Bob’ Jackson departed this life for his eternal home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 3:45 a.m. He was blessed with 82 years of life on this earth. A memorial service celebrating his life in Christ will be held Saturday, May 13, 5:30 p.m. at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be at the church Saturday, May 13 from 3:30 p.m. until the memorial service followed by interment at the church cemetery.

A native of Purvis, Mississippi, Bob was born on August 1st, 1940, the eldest of two sons born to Donald and Virginia Jackson. He and his brother Carson enjoyed a typical small-town Mississippi childhood and a close lifetime comradery. He graduated from Purvis High School in 1958 and attended Pearl River Junior College and Tulane University. In December 1960 he was married to his high school sweetheart, Mildred ‘Ann’ Campbell.

Bob was saved by faith in Jesus and spent his life in faithful service to the church as a deacon, choir member, building/maintenance worker, treasurer, and pastoral confidante. He was a faithful and active member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church.

Bob and Ann were blessed with three children, and he was a faithful provider for his family. Known to most as ‘Poppa’ for the last 36 years, he was proud of and blessed by six grandchildren: Stephen (wife, Amy), Rachel, and Seth Morgan, Danielle (husband, Matt ) Allemond, Ethan, and Emma Jackson, and four great-grandchildren: Jackson, Abigail, Benjamin and Ella Allemond.

He is survived by his children Jan and Stacy Morgan, Jim and Candy Jackson, and Jay and Allison Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law Carson and Donna Jackson; in-laws Billy Bishop, Jake Cook, Jean and Ed Simmons, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mildred ‘Ann’ Campbell Jackson, father, Carson ‘Donald’ Jackson, mother, Mary ‘Virginia’ Latimer Jackson, mother-in-law Gladys Saucier Campbell, and father-in-law, David Colvin ‘Beck’ Campbell.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the building fund of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, 19421 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739.
